Brian Mcpherson

Brian McPherson has an unparalleled passion with a proven track record for serving the underserved in Boston’s construction and design community. He's been a recognized leader and advocate for diversity with major corporations and government agencies with over 30 years of experience managing high-profile construction projects totaling over $1.5 Billion. He is a proud Boston native with a solid local and national diversity & inclusion network and a humble servant to many of Boston’s non-profit community organizations.

In November 2020, Brian was privileged to be named the Executive Director of YouthBuild Boston (YBB) and only the organization’s second leader in nearly 30 years. As YBB recently celebrated its 30th anniversary Brian was honored to step away from his position on YBB’s Board of Directors where he had been a member for 10 years, to embrace the day-to-day opportunities of building up Boston’s youth. He brings a keen vision to build career paths for young men and women in the Boston community and feels truly blessed to be in this new role.

Brian was, most recently, the Director of Access and opportunity for the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). As the Director, He’s served the construction community in creating access to opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses and workforce. He served as a key outward face of DCAMM in dealing broadly with awarding authorities, contractors, architects, engineers, and facility management vendors. He was the leading voice for DCAMM in many aspects of these key relationships throughout the Commonwealth.

Brian is also the former Director of Diversity & Workforce Compliance at Suffolk Construction Company. In that role, he built both a local and nationally recognized diversity program that had significant results over his tenure. Before that responsibility, he was a Senior Project Manager completing dozens of construction projects for several major general contractors. He has led teams on countless projects across commercial, residential, government, education, healthcare, and science and technology sectors.

Brian is a proven industry leader who is truly dedicated to building meaningful diversity and inclusion in the construction industry. Among his many distinguished honors is the 2012 Boston Business Journal's Leaders in Diversity Award.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University in Architectural Engineering.
